a means of communication, linking of ideas, relationship.”
about jenn
Jenn's ancestors came to Canada from Finland and the west of Ireland. She is deeply rooted in the bioregion of the Pacific Northwest where she calls home on unceded Coast Salish territory.
"I am blessed to have this great job where I work with communication and connection. I love to watch how this can cause powerful partnerships - whether it's a new way of looking at an idea or respect for different approaches to shared problems. It's a form of magic."
As an enthusiastic and influential leader in environment and social justice communities for the past 15 years, Jenn provides strategic direction and advice to noteworthy organizations such as Canada's Ecofiscal Commission, National Film Board of Canada, the Government of Canada, the Dalai Lama Centre for Peace and Education, First Nations Energy and Mining Council, Equiterre and Smart Prosperity Initiative.
"Meaningful connection requires direct, clear and respectful communication. It's time to say goodbye to the old model of manipulation, jargon and dense opaque messaging."
Jenn’s extensive background working with federal cabinet ministers, private-sector CEOs, and other leaders in the charitable sector provides her with a unique real-world understanding of the interconnectedness of people, place and public policy. Her curiosity for and commitment to finding ‘stories that connect’ has taken her on a unique career path encompassing four years with Canada’s federal ministers for the Environment, International Trade and International Development, leadership roles in documentary film, and growing a creative communications shop.
Jenn recently launched two passion projects - Ocean Ambassadors Canada, an ocean conservation program connecting kids with the ocean; and the Circular Economy Partnership, an organization building bridges between Canadian and international organizations in an effort to move beyond our take-make-dispose industrial model towards an economy that builds economic, social and natural capital.
Our stories shape how we think about, connect to and interact with people, communities and the planet.
